PROJECT: GROMIT UNLEASHED

CLIENT: AARDMAN ANIMATIONS / THE GRAND APPEAL

Gromit Unleashed was a public art trail of 80 5ft tall Gromit sculptures that took place around Bristol over the summer of 2013. At the end of the trail the sculptures were auctioned off to raise money for Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal, which is the charity that contributes massively to Bristol Children's Hospital.

OBJECTIVE: To create and submit a design to feature on one of the 5ft sculptures that would form part of the trail of 80 Gromits

Unbelievably, I actually had 2 designs selected! The first is 'Grrrrromit' - the design was based on how I imagined Gromit would unleash his inner tiger, with a Mexican wrestler/superhero vibe.... Grrrrr!

I have documented the whole process from initial design, through the painting, to the completion of each of my Gromit sculptures in a couple of blog posts. The post for Grrrrromit can be seen here

Pictured here in location... Grrrrromit was sponsored by Trunki and was located in Windmill Hill City Farm for the duration of the trail

The second design I created for the trail was called 'Blazing Saddles' - I have created a separate project page for him here

Update: The Gromit Unleashed trail is well and truly over now, but a range of merchandise has been created featuring many of the favourite Gromit designs, including mine. To enable the charity to continue raising money for the Children's Hospital why not have a look...
