project: Wow! Gorillas
created: June 2011

The Wow! Gorillas project was organised by Bristol Zoo as part of their 175 year anniversary celebrations, to raise money and awareness of the conservation projects they are involved with. 60 life-size gorilla sculptures were placed around Bristol for 12 weeks over the summer, each having been designed and painted by a local artist.

My design - Super G, Downhill Racer - spent the summer at St Nicholas Market, Corn Street. He was also transported to London for a 'profile raising' week with some of the other Gorillas before the charity auction took place in early september.

This was an amazing project to be apart of and something unlike anything I had worked on before. I have posted up photos of Super G in his various stages of being painted on my blog - they can be seen here

Super G was bought at the auction by a trio of partners, including Bristol City Council members and the traders of St Nic's - he has returned to the market to remain on public display.

project: Silkscreen
created: November 2011

I have recently become a member of new local illustration collective 'Drawn in Bristol' and as such have access to use their Silkscreen printing facilities - something i haven't done since art college!

I had a lot of fun creating these first 2 prints - 'Wheelie Tree' and 'Racing Pigeon No.9' - each in an edition of 30, and really hope to do some more in the not too distant future.

These prints are available to purchase through my online shop here.

Process pictures can be seen on my facebook page here and here.

project: Ink-dot "Resolution"
created: October 2011

This is a piece I created for the latest Ink-Dot show - 'Resolution' which opens at Colston Hall in Bristol on Dec 1st.

Ink-dot run on the premise of setting an open brief, with a set colour palette, and this time an oval template had to be incorporated in some way.

This is the image I came up with - a personal 'resolution' to use more colour, which was a goal i set myself a couple of months ago when I realised the prints I was trying to sell were all a bit monotone - I have now attacked this head on and have even started to use fluorescent colours in my silkscreen prints!

project: Woodland Wheels
created: November 2011

These are some of a series of original artworks I created by drawing with POSCA marker pens directly onto chunky pieces of plywood. A new method of working for me, and a very enjoyable one!

The pieces were created to sell via the Drawn in Bristol Pop-Up shop which opened mid-november in Cabot Circus, Bristol.

created: september 2011

I am very pleased and proud to be a member of the new Bristol based illustration collective 'Drawn in Bristol'. This image was for the first group show, with each illustrator creating 1 piece - a little boat or a big boat.

This is my 'little boat'.

project: Boneshaker Magazine
client: Boneshaker Magazine
created: August 2011

Boneshaker Magazine is a very cool bicycle related publication - full of articles, personal stories and anecdotes relating to all things bike, coupled with some great photography and illustration.

It was a real privilege for me to be asked to illustrate a wrap-around image for use on the cover of the magazine.

The illustration was based on a mis-pronounciation of 'Quad-biking' from my young son... Cod-Biking is born!

project: Deadly Is The Female
client: Manage My Website / Deadly Is The Female
created: April 2010

I was asked to create a logo for Deadly Is The Female - an online boutique selling 'Everything a Pin Up could need'... vintage style fashion, lingerie and accessories.

The brief for the logo was fairly specific in terms of the style required and had to include a glamourous model and a Hairless Chinese Crested dog called Gomez, who belongs to the shop's owner.

The online boutique was designed and built through Manage My Website www.deadlyisthefemale.com
