PROJECT: COVID-19 SAFETY ILLUSTRATION
CLIENT: MERBIS FILMMAKING & PHOTOGRAPHY

Merbis Filmmaking and Photography is the business of Remco Merbis, a freelance filmmaker and photographer whose work mainly focuses on portraiture, fashion and (active)lifestyle.

OBJECTIVE

The impact of COVID-19 has had a massive impact on the way many of us work, and for a photographer/filmmaker, the UK lockdown made photo & film shoots impossible. With the lockdown measures easing and social distancing measures in place, Remco has written a blog post setting out safety guidelines of how he plans to get back to work and make shoots involving other people - models, clients, and art directors etc - a possibility again. He asked me to create an illustration to accompany his blog post, and also to share on Instagram.

The illustration was created in a wider format for use on Remco’s blog, but with all the main elements kept central so that it could easily cropped into a square format for Instagram. I suggested the option of adding a little animation to help bring the illustration to life, and to highlight the safety measures around distancing and use of Wi-Fi connections - I think this works well!

CLIENT FEEDBACK

“ Carys did an amazing job on the (animated) illustration I was after for my article. It certainly made the post stand out. My clients loved it too and commented on how it quickly added clarity to quite a complex subject. Brilliant.”
