Project

Jubilee Pool Fundraising Images

Client

Friends of Jubilee Pool

Vision

To provide a quality, sustainable local resource that is welcoming, affordable, inclusive and accessible for everyone in the community

Jubilee Pool & Gym in Knowle Bristol was threatened with closure due to Council budget cuts between 2011 and 2022.

The Friends of Jubilee Pool is a group of passionate local volunteers who took on the immense challenge of taking the pool into community ownership. The hard work paid off and in October 2022 FoJP took over the running of the pool and became a registered charity.

I was asked to create an illustrative art piece relating to Jubilee Pool, that could be used on different forms of printed merchandise and be sold to help with fundraising.

To help show how important and appreciated the Jubilee Pool is for local people, I ended up creating a set of 4 images! These give a sense of the diverse range of community members who use and enjoy the pool.

Connection to community

Whilst the Jubilee isn’t local for me, the Chair of the Friends of Jubilee Pool is a client I’ve worked with for a number of years. I’m inspired and super impressed by the efforts of this group of volunteers, to keep a much-loved leisure facility open and thriving, for the health and wellbeing of their local community.

The artwork is available through @fojp_bristol in the form of notecards, art prints and potentially other future printed merch…

This project was carried out pro bono.
