For a bright, inclusive and trauma informed future for every kind of family

Pickle Street is Bristol’s first immersive role play village for children. This miniaturised version of the city features nine joyful areas, which are designed to spark imagination and facilitate playful learning.

🌈 A bright new brand design for Pickle Street. The brief was essentially to create something colourful, fun and playful which reflects a Bristol vibe and is appealing for children and adults. As you can probably see, I’ve enjoyed myself with this one!

Following on from the logotype and brand, I collaborated with the client on designs for the inside of Pickle Street – it was really nice to be involved in the full project, and something slightly different for me… Scroll down to see more!

Creative approach

The basis of the visual brand is this ‘Master Graphic’. I developed this as an alternative to a more traditional brand mark, to convey the idea that Pickle Street is a fun and vibrant place with lots going on! It’s a playful approach that’s open to interpretation, can be used in different ways, and offers lots of potential for carrying through to the interior of Pickle Street – the role play space and cafe.

A flexible approach: the logotype works with colours from the brand palette or in combination with parts of the Master Graphic – For example: a social media avatar, and stickers

Designs for the interior of Pickle Street

Custom shop fronts and signage created to tie in with the Pickle Street brand and colour palette.

Each design pulls reference from different types of shops and eateries found in and around Bristol. The aim is for Pickle Street to be a vibrant and eclectic high street, providing a setting that provokes curiosity and discovery, and supporting child development throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Print materials designed for Pickle Street

Poster designs for two fictitious theatre productions, a couple of event posters, a construction site safety sign, and a fun healthy eating poster! Plus some made up adverts and notices for the community noticeboard, helping bring a ‘real world’ feel to the themed play spaces, in a way that’s inkeeping with the Pickle Street brand.
